Your journey

Upon receiving your referral or enquiry I will get back to you via text, call, or email- whatever you prefer. I'll explain a bit about Physis and who I am, and point you to other pertinent content on my website. This is a helpful way for you to fully understand the services I offer and the values and training that underpin my practice. If you'd like to ask follow-up questions, you can do so via email or message me using the contact page.

The next step is to discuss how we can schedule a free 15 minute consultation. It's a chance for us to get to know each other a bit. We can do this either online or face-to-face. We won't dive deep during this chat, but we will need to discuss your needs- without going into detail which could invite a therapeutic dialogue. If you have any questions, I'll do my best at this point to answer them.

After the consult, we'll both have a sense of whether we might be a good fit to work together. This meeting does not oblige either of us to commit to further contact. Sometimes, for various reasons, working together might not be appropriate. I'll always be direct and honest with you about that, and encourage you to be the same.

The first four sessions are a chance for us to explore together. After the fourth, we’ll have a clearer sense of what you’re looking for and whether I’m the right therapist to help.

If we both agree to move forward, we will commit to meeting for four consecutive weekly sessions. It is at this stage that we would discuss my fees, and ask you whether you prefer online or face-to-face therapy. We will also figure out how to fit the work around our existing diaries in a reliable, consistent way.

During the fourth explorative therapy session, we will have a review, where we will share our experience of working together thus far. At this point I will know more about your needs. From here we will be able to make an informed decision about treatment goals and plans, and if we feel we work helpfully together. Clients often report that by this time, they're already gaining some insight into their circumstances.

If we do decide to commit to a longer period of engagement, it is at this juncture that we can discuss how we can mutually support this.

It is important to note that throughout this process everything you say to me, and all of your information, is managed in accordance with my professional membership guidelines and data protection laws and policies. Please see my ethics page for more information.
